New theme

with 2 comments

I’ve decided to take pity on my failing eyesight by switching to a theme with bigger text. The previous style, Benevolence, let me include a photo I’d taken of the River Clyde in the header but it only had a narrow column for text. I thought this gave the blog a suitably Glaswegian theme and I do miss that in the new theme.

On the other hand, it’s big and it holds the words well and that’s really what I’m looking for in a blog theme.

  1. Nice job… the previous text size was a touch hard on the eyes!

You didn’t fancy tweaking the old one then?…. (particularly as you seem a bit of a techie)

    • Yeah, I found myself using Ctrl & + to make the text bigger and it occurred to me that I was doing this on my blog and that was ridiculous. I was really determined to keep that picture.

I didn’t really consider tweaking it. I think everyone shares the same theme files on WordPress.com. You can add widgets and you can influence the theme slightly but the actual theme is a bit sacrosanct so I didn’t bother looking to see how much I could change, I just got a new theme.
